Napa Family Friendly Wineries with a baby

JL taking in the sites in Napa

When my son was only 3 months old we decided to take a trip to California to see some friends and spend a few days in Napa as my husband had never been before. Evidently, not all wineries allow people less than 21 years old at tastings which I did not learn until I started trying to book tastings. Given that, I had to find Napa family friendly wineries we could visit on our trip.

Napa Family Friendly Wineries: How many to schedule per day

On previous trips to Napa, I have visited about 3 wineries a day and that felt like a stretch. Since we had JL and nap time to consider, we decided to only schedule 2 tastings a day. Only doing 2 tastings gave us time to head back to the hotel for feedings and naps if needed. Additionally, it also allowed us plenty of time to grab lunch in the middle of the day.

Getting around to Napa Family Friendly Wineries

We chose to rent a car and drive ourselves since we were only doing one tasting in the morning and then one later in the afternoon. One of us chose to just taste the wine and not actually drink it so we would be able to safely drive. If you’re planning on doing 2 tastings back to back, I definitely recommend hiring a car service. You will probably have to bring your car seat so make sure you double check with the company ahead of time.

The Napa wine train was also allowing infants at the time of our trip but I had already visited one of the wineries so we opted not to repeat as there are so many more I want to check out.

My Favorite Napa Family Friendly Wineries

Materra Cunat Family Vineyards

The wine here is so amazing we actually decided to join the wine club! I have a few bottles of their Midnight wine on the table behind me as I write this post. We are typically not chardonnay fans but we love theirs! They included some cheese with the tasting and I love a good pairing! The tasting room is beautiful so you get the full Napa winery experience. Book your tasting!

This recommendation came from some friends of ours and we had such a great tasting experience! The wine maker himself, Daniel Benton, did our tasting. It was so informative coming from the winemaker directly! We heard stories like where his grapes came from exactly. We love all of his wine! You can’t go wrong with any of them. The tasting room is a very convenient location in Downtown Napa so you can walk there from your hotel if staying downtown. Book your tasting!

If you’re looking for a Napa family friendly winery with amazing views, look no further! The winery is stunning! However, this was the highest price point winery we visited on this trip so if your are on a tight budget this might be the one to skip. They offer 3 different levels of tasting depending on your wine preferences. Also, their website says they allow dogs on leash as well if you want to bring the whole family! Book a tasting!

Finally, I am leaving one tasting experience off as I did not consider it family friendly. The Vineyard was advertised as family friendly but we apparently picked the wrong tasting room at the venue. It was not family friendly as there were posed mannequins hanging around the room. I was glad JL was just a baby and not an older child because we definitely would not have stayed.

Overall, I am so glad we chose to go to Napa with JL even though it meant we could only visit family friendly wineries! We had such a good time exploring with him and it was relaxing since we were not trying to cram as many tastings as possible into a short time.
